Student fundraisers are fantastic!
Over the UK, students spend hours every week volunteering for charitable causes that they care about. They volunteer to run events, they go 'raiding' and collect money from the public, and they fundraise to do challenge events like walking the Great Wall of China, to raise money.
'Raising and Giving' (RAG) has a long history in UK universities, and is constantly growing and evolving. The events get bigger, more students want to join RAG, and the variety of fundraising activities is impressive!
I work at NUS and spend much of my time working with NaSFA, the National Student Fundraising Association. Together we have designed a day-long training programme for charities who want to improve their work with students, who want to make the most of the skills that students have, and want to get to know how students' unions work.
Fundraising University takes place on 1st June in NUS' offices in London. Please share this post and spread the word. Let's get more charities working with students and with their students' unions!
