Stuck at your current income level? 3 reasons why you are not standing out as an expert in your field and growing your business as fast you would like

Are you in a situation where you are signing clients and making some or a good amount of money in your coaching or your consulting business but you are not seeing the growth you want or you don’t have a clear plan on how to grow your brand, authority and sales long term and in a sustainable way??

If yes, this article is perfect for you!?

Hi, My name is Taru Tammikallio, I’m a founder of Influential Entrepreneur – we help coaches and expert businesses become industry leaders by elevating their offers, messaging and brand, and leveraging their impact via the power of PR and social media.?

In this short training I’m going to show you 3 main things that might be the reason, why your income is not growing the way you want and what to do about it. After this training you can book a free strategy call with us so we can see how we can help you to fix that!

Reason number 1: You are not clear enough about your messaging and positioning

What I see with many entrepreneurs is the situation where they start their coaching or consulting business, sign clients (because their network already knows that they are experts in their field) and then they start to rely just on their network and think that they don’t have to put the effort into positioning themselves, building a brand and getting visible, so they can stand out from the other entrepreneurs and businesses.

And the truth is, this might work. I know many entrepreneurs who have gotten their business to even 6-figures and beyond just by relying on their network. But if you want to build a sustainable business that lasts time, keeps growing and is not depending on just your network and referrals you have to put your focus on your messaging and positioning.

Your network (where your past or current clients are coming from) already knows who you are, what you are about and what you and your business can do for them. But what about people who find you online for the first time??

?? If your messaging is watered down and you are not crystal clear who your offers is for, who’s your ideal client, what problem you solve for them and what’s the transformation for your clients, it’s going to be likely that they don’t understand what you are doing and that you could support them to get to their goals. Don’t try to be everything to everyone. Own your expertise and get crystal clear about these things!

You might feel that the thing you do is difficult to explain and you don’t want to put yourself into a box, trust me I get it! Been there too. But I can also assure you that it’s totally possible to find the clarity for these things without you having to feel chained and limit your creativity.?

Reason number 2: You are not building your brand and sharing your expertise consistently

We all know the situation – you KNOW that if you want to build an industry leading brand and business, you have to put in the work.

But then the more urgent things keep coming up, you are not sure what to post, what’s your message, impostor syndrome is attacking you and you are doubting if this is going to get you the results you want…and then you might noticed that you haven’t post in a weeks or if you have, you know that your message is not resonating with your ideal clients and is not standing out.?

You have to share your story, expertise and speak to your audience in a way that connects with your ideal clients, positions you and your business as the expert and makes them want to buy.

The truth is that you can get some clients and sales without focusing on your brand and without getting visible.?

But if your goal is to…

? Build a sustainable business where you have a community of people who want to buy everything you sell

? You want to get to conversations with your ideal clients faster and easier (because they already know, like and trust you)

? You want your ideal clients to contact you saying that they are ready to work with you – instead of you having to rely so heavily on cold messaging or cold calling and start to build trust from there

??Sharing your story, values, expertise and show your ideal clients that you understand them and can help them get the transformation they want is the most sustainable way to do that to get your dream clients to come to you on repeat without exhausting tenders and "sounds good, we'll get answers later" (when they never actually do.?

Reason number 3: You are not getting visible enough and grow your audience

Okay, maybe you have already nailed your messaging, positioning and are consistently sharing your story and expertise on social media.?

You might have already signed the clients but now your income is not growing or might have even dropped even though you have created the content to your followers and to your email list and you might be thinking what is happening.

The reason might be this – you need more eyeballs to your stuff to get more people to your world, so they can know, like and trust you. And become a client.?

But if your email list or followers are not growing all the time, you need to find other ways. And you might think I’m talking about scaling your business with ads…that might be an option, but that’s not what I mean…

There is a strategy to get visible to hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands and even more people with just one piece of content and at the same time massively build your credibility as an expert. And that strategy is PR and getting featured in the traditional media.?

Why is PR and earned media is such a great strategy to build a strong brand, visibility and credibility (that will lead to sales) in your business?

Public relations (PR) information and public relations activities, is a form of marketing communication, which is intended to be developed jointly between the company and stakeholders.

PR can be external or internal.

Earned media exposure means visibility in journalistic media such as radio, TV, newspapers, news and online media.

Earned media exposure does not count as native articles, advertising, or any other commercial content where money changes hands.

Earned media visibility is organic visibility that has not been achieved because you paid for it, but because it has been deemed to have journalistic value to the media's audience.

If you then see an article and you can see a text there that is saying "commercial collaboration" or company advertisements, it is a commercial content or advertising.

On the other hand, if you see a message about an interview with the company's CEO or an entrepreneur, or an article where the phenomenon of the subject is discussed under the guidance of an expert (and it does not say "advertisement" or "commercial collaboration", it means that it is earned media.?

5 reasons why PR and building a strong brand can skyrocket your business

PR and getting earned media is a great strategy, because…

? You don’t have to rely so heavily just on your own social media audience and visibility you get from there – with PR you can reach hundreds, thousands and even more people that are your ideal clients (and are not in your current audience) with just one interview

? You don’t have do all the content by yourself – just share your expertise and story to the media and the journalist will write the article

? Earned media builds massively your credibility and authority – anyone can say everything on their social media, but when you get featured in the traditional media, people will see you as the expert (because not everyone is going to get featured in the media)!?

? You can get new leads immediately because of the media feature and sign new clients immediately – some of them might start to follow you and then they buy later when they are ready. → Many of my clients have signed 4- and 5-figure sales from just one interview → so think about what PR can bring you and your business in the long run!

? Your ideal client might find you from Google even years from now – if they Google the topic you are talking about in your interview and are expert in it, they might contact you to become a client! Leads that come from Google are more likely to buy because they have proactively searched the information.?

? Building a strong brand and credibility via PR can also help you get your book idea published (it definitely helped myself to get my first books published) because it shows to publishers that you are already expert who have the connections with media, whose story are interesting to the big audience → so this is going to make them more interested to publish your book!

Hope you did get a lot of value from this article!

?? Great tips, thank you Taru! One of the biggest reasons a solopreneur is not growing her business, is trying to make it alone and not leveraging the power of cooperating with like-minded colleagues.
