Struggling with my Zero Inbox

Struggling with my Zero Inbox

Email has always made me anxious.

I could not put my finger on exactly why for a long time, but I was always adamant that I cleaned it out. No matter how tough that was.

Over the years, I was able to refine my process until I went to an all day training called "Take back your life". If you are not familiar, it's a course on applying the concepts of David Allen's "Getting Things Done" to your emails inbox.

This course was kind of life-changing for me.

I still use some of the techniques I learned in it 11 years ago. Though I have evolved my own spin on them over time. I have created training based on my techniques and interpretations, and presented that training in nearly every place I've worked since then. I have delivered the training to customers, peers, and teams in a dozen places.

I ran a friend of mine through the process, and he asked if there was some place this was available online for him to review in the future. I did not have anything then, but thought it would be a fun idea to make it.

It was not a fun idea.

But it was a really interesting and valuable one.

I've spent the past few weeks tinkering on this training deck, and even brought in a professional to help me with the formatting and making it look, you know, good. I'm hoping to release it to the public in the next few weeks. My goal is not to make any money on it. But to provide another tool out there for anyone who needs it.

Because we all need tools.

And we all need each other.

I hope that whoever sees this training will take something from it that will make their life a little better, or easier, or give them more time to do the things they really want to do.
