Struggling to get investors excited?

Struggling to get investors excited?

It's a common issue, you have something groundbreaking, an innovation that makes something, somewhere, better.

You've developed your prototype, rehearsed your pitch 17,000 times and are feeling good walking into the meeting, only to spend the next two hours delivering a powerpoint deck more anti-climatic that the final Line of Duty episode.

The investors have glazed stares, a deafening silence fills the room, it's fallen flat and as you start to talk numbers you realise it's a futile task.

There's a non-exhausted list of factors as to why this can happen, but having worked within the walls of Tech Hubs and built relationships with founders throughout the UK, the most common reasons for it I've found are:

  1. Failure to prime the audience of investors effectively
  2. Failure to communicate the pain that the product/service solves (or the consumer problem)
  3. Failure to show, rather than tell in the pitch itself

We recently worked with a client in the materials technology space who exhibited these issues and there was nothing wrong with the technology - that was quite literally revolutionary, but when it came to the content, they were found wanting.

Over the space of 8 weeks, we worked with them to create short, beautiful choreographed 3D product animations that we targeted at the investors in the room, along with a series of CGI visuals that focused on showing rather than telling the pains that the product solved.

The result was a multi-million pound investment that followed shortly after, and a brand that positioned itself as a category leader. Now of course, I've creatively skipped a few weeks of nitty-gritty commercial negotiations, but the point is this - investors make decisions based on confidence and if your product or brand lacks, so will your chances of success.

CGI & 3D Animation allows brands who are developing new models to make it 'feel' real and gives a boost to investor confidence, in an incredibly competitive environment.
