Stronger Together

As we are about to end 2020, I wanted to give credits to Sure’s staff, customers and partners for what will remain a very special vintage. Outside work and for some, it was very bitter and for most uncertainty created anxiety.

Under Stronger Together ethos, Sure managed to balance numbers, employees' welfare and customers' care across a very unique collection of Crown Dependencies (Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey) and British Overseas Territories (Ascension, Diego Garcia, Falkland Islands and Saint Helena).

Work tenet. When employees were sent home from their offices en masse amid the global onset of COVID-19, many businesses worldwide scrambled to adopt technology solutions to enable their teams to work remotely. What was especially important for Sure was the control and speed (business continuity foundations) with which we were able to work from home, whether colleagues in finance and call centre support, or network operations centre personnel. Our work nucleus for productivity, communication and data insights combined with our January 2020 (topical) initiatives for accountability and collaboration across our 7 jurisdictions have been an asset. I have been impressed too by many of my colleagues' personal stories, managing work, going extra miles during lockdown to support safely customers and colleagues, while finding new ways into learning and training.

Connectivity infrastructure. Sure’s infrastructure has reliably transitioned thousands of workers to home-based offices and students to online classrooms. The pandemic has highlighted the critical role and complementarity of submarine, fixed and 2to5G mobile networks in providing our islands with economic resilience and communities’ vitality during a period of unprecedented disruption, including significant bandwidth juggling as we started off our lockdown with an issue on one of our submarine path! Of course we have had few technical glitches, and each time dealt by Sure's personnel with a sense of urgency and customer care. This is a very robust outcome because of what Sure achieved over last couple of years building the necessary skills, procedures and actual technology performances.

Customers and communities. Leveraging above, some great outputs were delivered for both Consumer and Enterprise segments. We’ve seen positive customer feedbacks, welcomed new customers in every of our 7 markets as well as received recognition about how well Sure -inclusive of Sure Foundation Community- have supported the communities we serve. This would not have been possible without the contribution from all of Sure’s partners, which we worked with for their technology lead and/or flexible working practices. The continuous need to improve the resiliency of our customers’ businesses and enabling our customers to focus on their primary objectives are driving Sure to design, build and operate next generation of technology stacks with enhanced features into cloud, fibre and security.

In turn, customers push Sure's work tenet and connectivity infrastructure few steps further.
