Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung - HRNS
Because People Deserve Prosperity.
Welcome to our HRNS Newsletter, Muddy Boots, here on LinkedIn.
At HRNS, we believe innovation flourishes when we come together, combining resources and expertise to empower smallholder families worldwide.
The past year demonstrated the remarkable progress possible through collaboration. From implementing climate-resilient farming techniques to strengthening community resilience, partnerships have been at the heart of every success. Yet, there is still untapped potential to achieve more - to innovate further, support livelihoods, and build resilience in the face of evolving challenges.
In the upcoming year, HRNS is committed to being a proactive implementer, driven by the needs and aspirations of smallholder families. Together, we can unlock sustainable solutions that truly make a difference.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Yours,
Felix Opio , Co-Country Manager, HRNS Uganda
Transforming Coffee Farming Amid Climate Challenges in Indonesia
Indonesian coffee farmers face declining yields and crop failures due to climate change. The transition to sustainable farming faces significant hurdles, primarily rooted in traditional farming mindsets. Many farmers still view soil and plants as separate systems rather than interconnected elements of a larger ecosystem.
Unlocking Circular Economy Opportunities in Brazil
Coffee production and processing generates significant volumes of organic waste, with roughly 2.1 tons of husks per hectare alone. Enhancing recycling culture and creating a circular economy concept is a promising answer to tackle the issue. Read about our Brazilian project "Back to the Roots" which focused on circular economy approach and a waste-free coffee supply chain
"Localization is about power and resources – about shifting power and shifting resources."
