A strong start to the week
Tuesday 6/11/19...
Yesterday was a strong start to the week. I spent my first 2 hours of the day publishing this journal to LinkedIn, followed by client hours all the way through 5:30. Hopefully I will be able to scale the time it takes me to publish these back a bit. But either way, I think it's worth the investment.
I especially enjoyed doing it first thing Monday morning. It was a great way to get me on track for the week ahead. I'm thinking about making that a weekly ritual.
Throughout the day, I followed up with potential opportunities in order to move the needle. The only thing that was missing was submitting proposals to Upwork. I may submit 3-5 this morning before jumping into some client work. But I'd like to do a bit more analysis on this process. How long does it take me to find and submit a proposal? What are the conversation rates from submittal, to response, to appointment, to close?
This will tell me how many proposals I need to submit to reach my new client goals. It will also give me insight into the time commitment needed for biz dev/sales. I'll need to start using a journal or create an excel doc to track my progress.
As a bonus, my wife had some work to do last night, so I spent some time getting some things checked off my to-do list. I ordered a new monitor because working on one is like a joke - especially when combing through data. A few other office supplies here and there will help me get physically organized in my new office.
Then, I got signed up for some tools that will be useful in the sales process. Calendly will help from a scheduling stand point. I set up some 'office hours' on Tues & Thurs afternoons, so I can just send out a link for anyone looking to connect.
I also signed up for UberConference because I hate not having something to send when I set up meetings. In my mind, it just helps to formalize the process. Although, the free version limits me to 45 min. calls. Let's see if that becomes a problem.

This is an entry from my personal daily journal. I recently left the 9-5 to work for myself - something I've dreamed of for as long as I can remember. It's my hope that these posts inspire anyone looking to do the same or shed some light on what this journey is really like.
