A Strong Hotel Team?

Good Teamwork, of course, is an essential skill for our Hoteliers to learn to do well in the Hotel, to satisfy their Managers and Supervisors and to succeed in their careers.
Most of us engage in some kind of Hotel Teamwork, but what makes for an effective team?
My advice is simple: Communicate with one another and ensure that every team member participates. Individual members of any Hotel team can help the Hotel team do better overall.
If you tend to be quiet, try to speak up more; if you tend to be vocal, hold yourself back a bit, and invite input from other teammates.
Research on teamwork goes back decades, even before the often used 1965 work of Bruce Tuckman and his four stages of team evolution - forming, storming, norming and performing – which are still normally part of management training and higher education.
But, it was only in 2010 that Woolley suggested that two of the three things which best predicted a team’s performance were:
· the degree to which each team member’s voice was heard typically during discussion.
· the proportion of females on the team.
So if you want High Performing Hotel Teams – Employ a suitable proportion of Females and Communicate more with each other and make sure everyone’s voice is heard …. Easy!
