A Strong Foundation for GenAI
While visiting Guangzhou, China for Denodo's global retreat recently, I visited historic Yuexiu Park. This park featured the ancient city wall pictured below that surrounded the city over 600 years ago as part of the Ming Dynasty. Lining this wall were several trees, also hundreds of years old, with strong thick roots going down the wall and deep into the ground. NATURALLY, while sitting in this beautiful historic park, surrounded by these artifacts of ancient Chinese history, I thought about #data. Stay with me here ...
It got me thinking about a recent article I wrote for #DataManagement blog, entitled "Providing the Data Foundation for GenAI Success" ( https://buff.ly/3C7cHFt ). In this article, I concluded with the central premise that in order to build something that is meant to last, it must be built on a solid and firm foundation. As your organizations are embarking on new initiatives to use #GenAI and #dataanalytics to revolutionize the way in which they identify, create, and capitalize on new opportunities, those initiatives must be built on a strong #datafoundation.

In order to understand what could be, one must first understand what is. #Data is the absolute key to understanding what is and to be able to develop innovative ideas for capitalizing on the #ai opportunity in front of us. #AI needs data; lots and lots of data. The challenge that most organizations face, however, is how to effectively integrate, securely access, and efficiently deliver the massive amounts of data they have in a wide variety of sources to #AI applications and #aiagents that lay at the heart of their innovative visions.
A #logicaldatafabric such as what #Denodo enables, which does not require replication of data, is the best solution to this challenge and enables building new #datadriven initiatives on a firm #datafoundation that is meant to last for years to come.
The red sandstone and steel grey bricks that were used to build the city wall surrounding the city of Guangzhou over 600 years ago formed a strong foundation which enables it to still stand tall today. Similarly, the thick and deep roots of the trees aligning this wall have formed a firm foundation deep into the earth, which have enabled them to stand tall hundreds of years later. As you envision the initiatives that you will build for your business, you want them to stand the test of time and be able to still impact the success of your organization many years from now. In order for these initiatives to be built to last, be sure they are built on a strong #datafoundation, powered by #denodo! #data #dataforall #denodoistheway #datafabric #dataintegration #datavirtualization #datamanagement #datadelivery

1 个月You're 100% right. But....the problem isn't what to do, it's investing in why you should do it....and that's where the premise falls apart. A solid foundation isn't sexy or shiny. Tough to get a promotion or a bonus for what cannot be seen. So, even though, the application or deployment is flawed, it's tangible. Quartz in the kitchen with wood floors and beautiful lighting but no one bothers to spec out the plumbing, electrical or concrete.
