Striving to Put Clients First – Capital One Investing and the DOL Rule

Striving to Put Clients First – Capital One Investing and the DOL Rule

You may have heard about a new rule that will impact how financial advisors will be providing advice to you for your retirement accounts. The new rule – known as the “DOL Rule” may have a significant impact on investors and financial professionals – as such, we want to be sure you have the background you need to understand the new rule and appreciate its impact on your financial freedom.

A Multi-Year Journey

Among other things, the DOL Rule was intended to address the potential for conflicts of interest that may arise when financial advisors are paid commissions for providing investment advice to retirement investors.

To that end, Capital One Investing has been on a multi-year journey to reduce the number of commission-based products we sell to advised retirement clients because it aligns with our vision of serving clients by putting their interests first. This initiative was started well before the DOL Rule was finalized.

Capital One Investing’s Approach

Capital One Investing has always tried to put the customer first. We think the level fee approach is good for the client, and good for Capital One Investing.

From now forward Capital One Investing retirement clients will know exactly what their account fee is and how their financial advisor is compensated. They will know that the investment advice they get from the Capital One Investing is made with their best interest in mind.

Making Your Choice

It is up to retirement investors to choose what type of investing advice to go with. Talk to your financial advisor. Ask what they plan to do and how they’ll be compensated. See what other firms will do and think about what you are most comfortable with as you consider the future of one of your most important assets – your retirement account.
