Striving for Excellence and not Accepting Mediocrity

I often get comments about how I am so motivated, driven and determined to succeed. If you know me, you are aware that I do not, and will not stop until I have achieved what I set out to. People often ask where I get this seemingly endless source of motivated from, and how I get back up after I’ve been kicked down. I’m here to tell you that what it comes down to is this – I always strive for excellence and never accept mediocrity.

Something I am terrified of is settling for something when I know I could achieve something better. It does not sit right with my personality to simply sit back and wait for things to come to me, or to get complacent with my life, career and goals. I made a promise to myself early on in life, especially when I began my own business, that I would never accept a mediocre existence and I would always strive for the best I can achieve.

This does not always mean I get the best, far from it. However, I got to sleep every night knowing that no matter what I actually achieved, I tried my best to get the best that was on offer – and that is enough.

This is a mindset I am working on strengthening even further, and a piece of wisdom I like to impart on the students I teach. The second you agree with yourself that you do not deserve to just accept mediocrity, you light a fire within yourself that means you are consistently striving for excellence in whatever path you choose.

My advice to anyone, in any walk of life, trying to achieve anything, is this: do not accept what is mediocre. Strive for the best, for your excellence. After all, what is the worst that could happen?
