As we navigate the landscape of artificial intelligence, understanding the distinction between AI Agents under human control (white-box) and Generative AI operating autonomously (black-box) becomes increasingly crucial in shaping comprehensive AI strategies.
At the heart of this delineation lies the question of policy and procedural management, a domain that demands meticulous human control, whilst recognising these often contain inherent problems. While Generative AI holds immense potential, entrusting policies, and procedures solely to its realm raises significant concerns, necessitating a closer examination of the boundaries between human-guided AI and machine-driven independence.
There are several critical reasons why policy and procedural management is more suited to AI Agents and not ?Generative AI.
Alignment with Organisational Objectives: The narrative used by human policy makers to communicate with the workforce plays a critical role in shaping organisational culture, values, and goals. By maintaining control over this narrative, the policy makers ensure that communication remains aligned with the broader objectives and strategies of the organisation. Consistency in messaging helps reinforce key priorities and foster a sense of shared purpose among employees. Generative AI by its nature may well unknowingly change or divert from organisational objectives.

When policymakers maintain control over the narrative, they can ensure that information is presented accurately and comprehensively, helping to build trust and credibility within the workforce. Accountability and Responsibility:? Human policymakers are accountable for the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures. Generative AI lacks accountability and cannot be held responsible for the consequences of its narrative, making it difficult to ensure transparency or address errors or biases.
