Strike Up: Driving Change in 2024

Strike Up: Driving Change in 2024

This February I'll be celebrating 27 years in business for Hammond International Inc. Sometimes I still find that hard to believe.

Since opening my company in 1997 I also had another business Hammond Employment Services for 3 years, and also opened Raise a Dream Training & Consulting Inc. which will be celebrating its 7th year anniversary in 2024.

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family (my parents owned a flower shop when I was little) taught me a lot.

Who knew when my sisters and I were children and growing up that playing store, doing sales on our front yard, doing a backyard carnival fundraiser (to name a few) would be the beginning of an entrepreneurial future for us three.

Both my sisters Adele and Melanie are entrepreneurs as well :)))

Also happening in my celebration month February 2024 is that I'll be speaking for the StrikeUp 2024 event On Feb 29 I'll be a panelist on the StrikeUp 2024 Workshop: The Advantage of Supplier Diversity: Selling to Large Businesses and Governments

Workshop presented by WBE Canada

Women-owned businesses still remain underrepresented in large corporate and government supply chains. However, some women-owned organizations and businesses are changing the status quo. Join the discussion presented by WBE Canada to learn about the changes underway in Canada and abroad, and the benefits they create for your business. On the panel are Silvia Pencak, M.A. Kayla Maduk and Andrea Robinson and I.

This is a GREAT event for women in business to attend either in person or virtually. Registration is FREE.

One of the best business decisions I made several years ago was to get my business certified through WBE Canada. "WBE Canada certifies Canadian businesses that are at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by women, introduces them to opportunities with our government and corporate members, and provides best practice resources and training on how to do business with large organizations." (Credit: WBE Canada Website). I have also had the opportunity to be a mentor for three WBE Canada certified women business owners through the Partnering to Build Capacity: Atlantic Canada Mentorship Program. Sitting on the Supplier Advisory Council for WBE Canada has also been an exceptional learning experience.

Hope you can join us and WBE Canada at STRIKEUP 2024.
