Benefits of stretch goals?

Stretch goals challenge us to be our very best. ?To push us outside beyond our comfort zone and the annual incrementality.?Achieving our plans that require 5% or 10% ?growth is expected. To ?improve by 100%+, requires something beyond “more of the same”.?You’ll need to make meaningful adjustments to realize that more significant goal.

Most annual goals are usually of the incremental nature, via modest improvements. ?To significantly change the trajectory of your personal or business growth requires stretch goals that you commit to achieve.

Early in my career, I led the Raisinets business, and that business was growing modestly.?We had an adequate product, positioning, assortment, and distribution. ??To double the business, required new thinking on all aspects of that business:

·???????We changed the product from Turkish to California raisins.

·???????The packaging was improved from a more porous cellophane to a high-quality sealed package.

·???????Our positioning moved from essentially a movie candy for everyone to a snack moms would choose for their children.

·???????Finally, we introduced a new, higher margin package in another section of the store.

Within three years we more than doubled the business.
