We start this weeks newsletter with some good news….
I finally took the plunge and made the body fix coach a limited company.
It’s been quite an exciting past year in business. After Covid completely decimated my business, like many others. I had to rebuild.
And back then JDB strength and conditioning (my old company name) had kind of moved on from its identity.
I still use strength and conditioning in my approach to training but after moving more in to helping people with pain and injuries this last few years, my good friend and client Danielle Clarke decided that she wanted to help me rebrand.
And here we are today ??
This weeks newsletter I want to dive into an often forgotten but simple form of exercise that will help you.
Stretching ??
First off, the only job of a muscle is to contract and relax. They don’t burn fat ??.
So, with all the movement we do on a daily basis, or lack of if you find yourself stuck behind a desk all folded up then they are in a contracted position my friend.
If we don’t stretch those muscles back out to optimal length then overtime you are going to have trouble coming your way.
Short muscles can lead to joint pain. The same goes for tight, weak and long muscles.
Now, to really get some length back in our muscles we have to hold the stretch for at least 60 seconds.
Breathe deep in through the nose?? and out through the mouth ??.
After a while you will start to feel the muscle start to relax and get longer.
Make stretching part of your daily routine. You’ve seen dogs stretch first thing when they wake up from a sleep, right?
A few minutes in the morning first thing, maybe a little at lunch and before bed?
Does that sound doable?
If you’re still on board with the idea then here are some videos of mine to guide you through ??
2. The kneeling hip flexor stretch.
3. The Pigeon & eye of needle stretch
That’s three great stretches to get you through this week ??.
That’s all for today. As ever, if you have any other issues you want me to help you with then you can book into a conversation with me here
Or, if you go to my about section on LinkedIn you’ll see links to my email lists.
Have a great rest of the week.
