Stretch and Challenge in Apprenticeship Workforce Development: CPD Opportunities

The Apprenticeship Workforce Development (AWD)?programme, funded by the Department for Education (DfE), launched first in January 2021 to support staff at all levels and roles supporting or delivering apprenticeships. In the last year or so the programme has delivered an exciting range of new modules, projects, action groups and resources. Developed, delivered and facilitated by a consortium of experts led by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) in partnership with the Association of Colleges (AoC), Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP), Strategic Development Network (SDN) and ourselves, University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) the AWD programme is freely accessible, at no cost, to providers and their practitioners.

Not to access the full range of FREE courses which cover many aspects of apprenticeship delivery to reduce withdrawals, raise achievement rates and embed high quality standards overlooks its relevance for not just university delivery but for all provider types and sizes. The programme is aimed at all practitioner roles?to support CPD and is intended to be about stretch and challenge as well as an opportunity to learn from peers across the apprenticeship sector about new methods, concepts and approaches that lead to successful outcomes for apprentices and employers.

UVAC is committed to supporting the higher education sector and its member institutions to develop and grow higher and degree apprenticeships. It is why we are involved in the programme – to provide very practical long-lasting and impactful support – and why we encourage greater engagement.
