Stress is?how do we react, when we feel under pressure or threatened? It usually happens when we are in a situation that we don't feel we can manage or control. When we experience stress, when we have lots of responsibilities that we are struggling to manage. Stress is a complex physical and psychological response (internal) when challenges are thrown on us. It is not that the stress is not desirable but to pull us out of our comfort zone when we are lazing around and inhibiting from actions or karmas. The relatively big challenges may be managed with stress. When the stress is not managed well or contended, it leads to perpetual bodily and mental disorders.
Stress is not a modern phenomenon but has been in existence for generations and generations. Even then, they had to face perturbations, troubles & pressures. In modern time we live & work in overcrowded places, noisy & polluted envoirenemnt, political divergence, natural disasters and changing climate. The work place demands success at any cost that too in first attempt, while relationship between people are fragile & distant and prevailing uncertainties. Order of the day is perform or perish. These factors contribute to our physical and mental fatigue and would lead to chronic stress.?
Certainly, we have very little or practically no control over the external circumstances, hence only choice we have to control our internal response to those conditions. Much of the stress can be managed effectively provided we understand it’s origin of discontent, understand the mechanism. We need to alter the way we react to such challenges and to avoid frustration the program or software controlling our mind has to be rewritten.?
It is our outlook to external factors which needs to be changed. In the era of information overload one needs to restrict to what is useful for me. We need to steer clear of such information, tasks & worries which are not important or have least implications. It is like ABC analysis that we do not concentrate on class C., as we have limited physical energy, mental capacity and time. Hence we need to select issues judiciously & wisely. It is important to note that there would be plenty of information which we do not need, tasks which may not be urgent or immediate or worries which have least implications definitely not life threatening. In short we need to conserve our physical and mental energy & devote for critical & important issues.

Often we wish to control the people who are near and dear to us, bring a change in them, as we perceive. Usually, we think that it our duty to correct them and as a result the happiness would prevail. ?It is bitter to experience that they may not perceive to our vision or may reject the idea or refuse to accept. Thus, a conflict is created with people whom we love and usually drains our physical, mental status & more so spirit. It is important to bring the change in self to accept that some things will remain out of our control & wishes.
The peace and happiness is a choice which we make with ourselves and not dependent on envoiremnet but how do we react to challenges. Hence we need to learn to take it easy and do not carry forward the irrelevant baggage, we learn to live in peace avoiding stressful life.

9 个月I believe stress occurs when there is a mismatch between what we expect and what we get.... whether in professional domain, personal aspirations or relationship.....Vinod Dahake

9 个月Stress is multi-faceted, as rightly defined and explained. Accordingly, stress induced response will vary with issues. Since we have no control on external conditions, 'prioritizing' and 'knowing' what matters will help to address stress. Equally important is sharing with friends and family (trusted ones!) can be a good stress buster!! Thanks for sharing.
