Stress Tools: Promoting Emotional Wellness in the Face of Cancer and Grief

Dealing with the Extra Trash Sandwich of Stress

Whether you are facing cancer, loss, or other adversity, there's a good chance you are finding yourself facing more stress than you know what to do with. And as we know, stress weakens the immune system and hinders our ability to cope with emotional distress as well. Therefore, you could use as many stress management tools as you can get your hands on.

My friend, Dr. Poorvi Shah, is a physician who has written a lovely book called Stress Tools: An 8 Week Guide to Relieve Stress and Regain Resilience, which is available on Amazon. She writes, "Facing a serious health issue, loss or grief can be extremely stressful, and sometimes these emotions and events last weeks or even months. Having a set of tools can definitely help you cope with the day to day struggles. You may not be able to eliminate the stress, but you can prevent it from causing your mind and body to suffer. I wrote Stress Tools to help you face each day with a little bit of peace and resilience."

I just love how Dr. Shah distills her wisdom and expertise into the briefest most simplified chapters that are so easy to read and digest. She has divided it up into 8 weeks of life transforming habits and reflection, which I think is just brilliant. I actually bought six extra copies for friends and family members. Buy the book and buy yourself a nice journal to go with it because you will want to do the written reflection that she gently guides you to do.

Perfectly structured with 8 weeks divided into 7 super short lessons for each day. You don't want a book about stress to actually cause you stress because it's dense or hard to get through! What Dr. Shah has created is a stress-free program to overcome stress. You can totally do this and see real change in your life in just a few weeks. Run, don't walk, to buy this book! Managing stress is one of the keys to managing hope.

I speak to medical professionals and patients, helping them provide hope when there seems to be none. If you or your organization need someone to help process the difficult topics of cancer and grief, let's set up a complimentary call, 703-656-6691, [email protected].
