Stress in our daily lives! How can we limit this killer?

We are surrounded by stress at home. on the way to work, at the workplace and in our interactions with our fellow human beings.

This is no quick fix and involves changing our perspective to situations and our reactions to them.

When somebody cuts in front of you when you are driving your car we can make a simple choice, get angry or not. Who are we putting in danger by reacting negatively, the person who did the deed or ourselves? We need to train ourselves to choose what is best for ourselves. We would not deliberately put our hand on a hot stove as we know that we will be burnt but we recklessly feel the need to put ourselves in a life threatening situation and so make a hasty decision that we can regret later if we survive.

There are hundreds of examples of how we allow situations to take control of our lives and have detrimental outcomes on all aspects of our lives. Having self control is easy to choose when we realize that when we lose control we are the ones having the negative consequences.

How do we help others as professional facilitators in the workplace? Remember you want a productive person that can cope with dealing with stressful situations in their work environment and home life. Incorporate job related situations and have a group discussion on ways of dealing with it. Encourage follow up discussions, get group solutions and put them into practice. We all have a need for advice and solutions to solve problems and solutions from time to time. As facilitators, our job is to get people to develop their own coping skills by learning to recognize conflict situations and to positively diffuse the situation as quickly as possible.

Expect high standards and encourage people by recognizing all the positive contributions, attitude, and social interaction as everyone has the ability to change their lives and that of others for the better. Don't allow yourself to fall into the trap of being a victim of stress when you have the power to eliminate most of it.

Absolutely true.
