Stress Kills

I am tired of seeing friends go through stress-induced health issues. This is my Public Service Announcement to say that if you have stress or stress-induced health problems to take a chill pill. Seriously.

Now, this isn’t for the clock-punchers. This isn’t for the 9-5 ers. This is for the in the office before everyone, leave way after everyone. Work yourself to death folks.

You all need to hear this, it’s not worth dying over. It’s not worth having your facial hair grow in spotty because you’re stressed. It’s not worth becoming obese and out of shape because you don’t eat right and don’t get to the gym. It’s not worth having a heart attack or stroke from the stress. It’s not worth getting shingles like I did from the stress.

Seriously guys, stress is one of the worst things for your body. Now, I’m no doctor, but having these stressful incidents to where your blood pressure spikes and then tanks to where you pass out isn’t a way to live. Having to be on blood pressure meds for the rest of your life. No thank you.

I’ve seen it all. Guys that work like crazy, fret over every detail and especially things they can’t control to where it just eats them alive.

Now, there is a balance with all this, yes. Absolutely. However, I think that most of you hard-chargers don’t take the time to relax. Even if it’s in the evenings. Maybe you’ve been doing it with alcohol to unwind, but that’s just masking the symptoms.

When you are so stressed out that you can’t go 20 minutes without looking at your phone, you have a problem. When you can’t relax in the evenings it’s going to cause issues. I’ve been in your shoes and it’s how I got shingles at 27.

Because in all honesty, if you get an email, text or phone call about something at 7 PM for work, unless the world is seriously on fire, there is nothing you can really do about it. By and large. There are always exceptions to this. Again, I’m not talking to the “it’s not my job folks”. I’m talking to you Alpha’s that work so hard and take no time for yourself.

Because I’ve had multiple friends who are stressing themselves to death.

This is also an announcement to check in on your friends folks. Ask how they’re doing. Ask them what’s up. See how they are, personally. Not how work is going or the family. Them.

You never know what someone is going through so you have to actually ask.
