STRESS- the dreaded word itself when spoken creates more Stress! It is a constant unavoidable companion of our daily life. In the post COVID world, I’m afraid, the new norm will probably be a more stressful existence.
Stress has been for us in AAMIRAV, a practically daily situation exacerbated by the COVID pandemic and I thought it would be useful sharing the lessons we learnt in successfully dealt with this evil.
Stress, like anger and fear, is primarily a symptom of a disease called ignorance, the fear of the unknown. If one deals with stress accordingly, by doing something about it in a structured manner, stress will disappear.
I found it useful to regard stress as an outcome of our inability to know how to tackle/resolve/address a number of situations occurring simultaneously.
As a first step, we decided to eliminate the word STRESS and replace it with SITUATIONS. These situations have all come up at once simultaneously and if not tackled, will lead to STRESS.
Next, I found adopting the PPCE approach which is focused on eliminating ignorance, very effective in combating situations for me. Let me elaborate. You begin by Prioritization, accepting the fact that everything cannot be addressed simultaneously. This is followed by Planning where you define the pathway to completion of selected tasks. You then need to Communicate to stake-holders on the new frames of reference and finally proceed with Execution. The ignorance of “what should I do”, “ how I should do things”, etc. vanishes once you have a well defined work plan and stress becomes a thing of the past and the situation addressed effectively..
This approach worked with me and my team at AAMIRAV and thought others could benefit from it too. Cheers and STAY SAFE AND STRESS FREE !!!!
