Strengthening Youth Mental Health through Government Partnership
Greetings from TAHMEF!
As we step into the year with determination and hope, we are excited to share the progress we’ve made in advancing mental health support for Tanzanian youth. The month of January has been a key turning point in our efforts to improve mental wellness services through strategic planning, partnerships, and a renewed focus on expanding access to care. Here’s an update on what we’ve achieved so far:
Team Building and Strategic Planning: Strengthening Our Commitment to Youth Mental Health
TAHMEF team came together for a comprehensive strategic planning session. This gathering helped us refine our vision and set clear objectives for the year ahead. We have reaffirmed our dedication to creating impactful mental health programs that are accessible, inclusive, and tailored to the needs of young Tanzanians. Our plans include enhancing digital services, expanding community outreach, and reducing stigma to improve the mental wellbeing of youth across the nation. With the collective effort of our passionate team, we are ready to face the challenges of the year ahead.
Engagement with Key Stakeholders: Advancing Youth Mental Health Initiatives

Expanding Mental Health Access: Digital Tools and Community Outreach
As part of our ongoing commitment to increasing access to mental health services, we continue to expand our digital tools like the AHADI App, the SMS Helpline (15061), and the 199 Helpline. These resources are already reaching thousands of young people across Tanzania, offering them a convenient and stigma-free way to seek help and support. Our efforts in providing accessible mental wellness resources are further supported by the positive feedback we’ve received from users, particularly in rural areas where access to mental health support is traditionally limited.
