Strengthen Strengths vs. Weaknesses

In both?#businessstrategy?and?#personaldevelopment?I consistently hear Friends, Family, and Peers identifying what their weaknesses are, and how they are going to spend 2023 to improve them. Focus on prioritizing improving your?#strengths?rather than your?#weaknesses?, this will be a more effective and efficient way to achieve success and reach your dreams.

I am not saying to ignore your weaknesses, but to simply prioritize them from most negatively impacting your business to less impacting, and work on the areas that directly/consistently impact your success. Spend the lion-share of your time making your strengths stronger. Strengths are what positively differentiate you and/or your business, don't allow focusing on weaknesses to remove your competitive edge.

Here are a few reasons why:

1. You are more likely to enjoy the process of self-improvement if you are working on things you are already good at. This can help you stay motivated and engaged in the process.

2. You can make a greater impact by building on your/your products strengths than you ever could by improving weaknesses, that's not how innovative companies, products, and people work.

3. If you are able to use your natural abilities and talents (strengths) to their full potential, you will be able to achieve more and be more effective in your work and personal life.

4. Focusing on your weaknesses can be disheartening and lead to frustration. It's harder to stay motivated and focused on a weakness, therefore you will see a reduction in passion and focus.
