Strengthen our united, democratic Europe – vote in the European Parliamentary elections!
Peace. Freedom. Democracy. International understanding. Unity. Prosperity. These are the values for which the European Union stands. For centuries, these achievements in Europe were anything but commonplace. The opposite was actually the case. It was only during the past few decades that Europeans began to draw on their painful experiences from two world wars and to rethink their ideas: The way to a peaceful, united and successful future is not one made of hatred and harassment, conflict and intolerance. Rather, it is one that is formed by collaboration, coexistence, debate and balanced interests. The result is today’s European Union.
It is a tremendous peace project. It is unparalleled in world history. We will not carelessly put a unified Europe at risk! Vote on Sunday in the European Parliamentary election, and cast your ballot for the democratic parties that support this Europe!
After all, our children also want to grow up and live in a peaceful, diverse, united and economically successful Europe, just as you and I have had the privilege to do. We have a responsibility to ensure that this Europe remains successful.
Is everything simply great in the EU? Of course not. The job of bundling and balancing the interests of 500 million people is and will always be a herculean political task. Many things can certainly be done even better. Nonetheless, European peace and democracy have brought us a very long way.
I say this as a staunch European. As the Board of Management member who oversees Human Resources at Volkswagen AG, I would like to add: 490,000 people in Europe work at Volkswagen. This group makes up three-fourths of our global workforce. Our 12 brands come from seven European countries. We also operate 69 production facilities across Europe. Europe is the base of the Volkswagen Group.
But, above all, Europe is our shared home. For this reason, the future of the European Union should be something that is close to our hearts. With this in mind, I urge you help decide the future of the European Union on Sunday. Help create a good and joint future for Europe.
Exercise your right to vote!
Best regards, Gunnar Kilian

5 年Don't be fooled by VW PR. VW, you will get what you paid for and less. VW's are poorly made and VW does not honor its warranty when it can get away with it. You may end up buying into a lot of financial and emotional pain. Below is a real world example:
Gunnar, thanks for thé reminder. It’s so easy to forget but it is so essential and at the core of what europe was supposed to be in the first place: a political experiment to ensure peace in a truly war ridden continent. We fully benefitted from it and it’s true that our generation has the damn duty to vote so next generations can also enjoy that very same peace and freedom.

5 年Gunnar appreciated the initiative of Volkswagen AG - we have to strenghten a democratic and united Europe, for us and the next Generations! My father was a refugee and had to move all over Europe during war. Even so a united Europe is not always easy - we should appreciate and protect great european values such as democracy and peace. Voting is a good and important duty.
