-Strength for Today"The Kind of Mind that Pleases God." - Romans 12:1-2
Let’s take a moment to talk about some positive input, input that describes the correct mentality of a servant of God. My question to you, “Is it possible to think so much like Christ that our minds operate on a different plane than others around us? My answer to you is, “Not only is it possible, but it’s essentialâ€!
At this point, the apostle Paul, takes on the role of a lawyer, as he strives to arraign the highest spiritual level for a believer. At this point he drops to his knees, as it were, and pleads the importance, perhaps one of the most important truths he would ever write.
He presents his case, not to prove God’s plan, but to show that His plan is the only true measure that can lead to:
· Holiness, and
· Righteousness.
Because based upon man’s depraved nature, there’s nothing in him worthy of being sacrificed. Therefore, Paul’s pleading is to all, so that they might obtain the only righteous goal God laid in place when he said, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. – Romans 12:1-2.
So stop allowing the world to squeeze you into its glass, and then make lemonade out of you, and then turn around and sweeten you to its taste. Because the world’s:
· Methods,
· Operations,
· Style and
Techniques will never bring about a radical transformation. Because to have a renewed thought pattern, requires authentic godlikeness. So then living differently, begins with thinking differently.
A life of such is one that is characterized by a renewed mind:
· A mind that’s set on serving others,
· A mind that’s convinced that your purpose is bigger than you.
That explains why that great section of Scripture describing Christ’s willingness to take upon Himself the form of a servant begins with these words: “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus†–Philippians 2:5.
