-Strength for Today-"The Power of Obedient Prayer" - Luke 11:28
When we hear and study the Word of God, it exposes us to His will. Nevertheless, knowing His will and praying about it is not enough. Because in order to improve the condition of our depraved way of thinking, we must obey His will. Obeying God’s will is the key that unlocks the yearning of the soul. Because praying, without obeying His will; in the end, your yearning hunger will not be satisfied.
So in order to rest upon the power of obedient prayer, we must rid our minds of the false notion that prayer alone will bring that blessed peace that passes all understanding. Now do not take it that I am down-playing the power of prayer, because normally all transactions between the:
· Soul and
· God
Are carried on by the most potent arsenal known to mankind, which is prayer. And yes scripturally, and according to the testimony of all the saints, (Hebrews chapter 11: 1-2), this is right. Because any spiritual advance on:
· Any front,
· Any deliverance,
· Any Purification, and
· Any influence of power,
All comes by the prayer of obedient faith, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” – Hebrews 11:6. The error that we make is that we try to secure these benefits by prayer alone. Because the description of faith is illustrated through the lives of the Old Testament heroes in Hebrews chapter 11.
This error is extremely difficult to correct, because it involves more than an adjustment of our denominational doctrinal beliefs. This error hits forcibly at the core of the whole human race, because of the disobedience act wrought by Adam (Genesis 3: 6), in The Garden of Eden. In short, in order to please God, it requires, prayerful obedient faith. A faith that sees beyond the circumstances before us, one that rest upon the security of:
· Our God, who is
· Our Deliverer!
