-Strength for Today- “Set Your Face Like Flint. - Isaiah 50:7
Flint,?a very hard, dark rock, is used?“figuratively in the Bible,”?to?express?hardness, and?the toughness?of an impossible task, and the inflexibility?of?unwavering?determination. So, staying?on track for God, requires setting?our faces like flint, with an awareness?of His presence.??But because?of Adam’s act?of disobedience in the Garden?of Eden, “the?magnified presence?of evil,?“distorted the vision” between God?and man, which caused the “whole?of humanity “to?become?oblivious to?God.”??Due to?a selfish choice made by Adam,?“Satan’s?contorted?control,”?made it impossible for him to?see?“the righteousness?of God.”?
And from that moment,?the only solution that could?“eradicate,” “the disgrace of?spiritual blindness,”?is?“God’s?supernatural?light of glory.”??Because “the?inheritance?left by Adam,”?in his “will and testimony”?was an equally distributed?“preferred choice”?of?“darkness” over “light.”?So,?the only?“hope for mankind,”?was that God would?“miraculously shine?the light of His glory in the hearts of mankind.”?
???The character we now have, apart from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, “radiates?the very essence of what’s evil about us.”??Because?“ultimate cause of evil in the soul of mankind,?is due to?his?“excessive attachment” to a sinful appetite,”?which caused “the?loss of taste for God’s sovereign righteousness,”?as the “all-satisfying “life” and “joy,”?and?“the preference for other things above God Himself.”?
??So today, I’m pleading with you,?to?“set your face like flint” “to know”?and?“hate evil in yourself”?and?“in the world.”?And spend the rest of your life,?“growing in the blood-bought ecstasy of treasuring God in Christ above everything!”?
If you do, “the majesty of God will be magnified in your joy.”??And?“the triumph of Christ will be fulfilled when that joy is perfected in His presence.”?And?“the?glory of human life”?will shine in you,?“as your joy in God overflows from your life into the lives of others.”?
