-Strength for Today- The Need for Truth." - John 8:32.
We’re standing at the front door of this new year with a multitude of people, all over the world, suffering from the infectious disease “doubt.” This infectious disease does have side effects which, because of its nature was transmitted incurably into mankind:
· Emotionally,
· Physically and
· Spiritually.
If this ungodly disease isn’t put in check. So when this disease rises high enough in one’s conscience, and the intoxicating effect of it becomes overwhelming, it’s time to act on the inner conviction work of the Holy Spirit, with “faith in the Word of God,” which is the only cure for removing the effects of doubt which is “truth.” You see:
· Scientist want to know the truth about life in outer space.
· Philosopher’s want to know if truth is “relative” or “absolute.”
· Sociologist are searching for ways to rid society of poverty and inequality.
· Economist desires to find truth about meeting the needs of both the rich and the poor.
But to justify the needs for any of these groups, one must go deeper than these
humanistic uncertainties, and stand on the reality of Jesus Christ, who is absolute, truth. So what is truth? This question was once asked of Jesus Christ by a man named Pontius Pilate – John 18. Pilate raises a question that only born-again believers can truly know.
The need to day isn’t to stand of the scaffold of philosophical human wisdom, but on the firm foundation of God’s truth which’ll set you free from the bondage of doubt, which is sin. The true God isn’t a force. He’s both:
· Spirit and a
· Person,
Who revealed Himself to men through the Person of His son, Jesus Christ – John 1:18. The story of God's revelation to humankind is contained in an infallibly inspired guide to life, which we call it the Bible. Man can know God through Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "He who has known Me, knows the Father." Therefore, the answer to Pilate’s question "what is truth?" finds its perfect expression in Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me" - John 14:6. You will find answers to the deepest questions of your heart when you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Jesus Christ offers not only guidelines for living, but the assurance of eternal salvation. He said, "You shall know the truth," (that is, Jesus),"and the truth shall make you free" – John 8:32.
