-Strength for Today - Kingdom Commitment - Romans 12:1-2
Commitment is that particular opted condition where someone dedicate themselves to a specific cause. Many people are willing to take on a task, but are not willing to obligate themselves to seeing that cause developed successfully. However, committed people are those who see through the grasping greed that gravitates through the minds of men. These are those who have committed their undivided loyalty to the gospel message of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, these are those whose attitudes are absolutely submissive to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Now, on the other hand, you might be gifted, in that you may be able to do marvelous things that would cause people to be swept up in your skills and in your abilities. But such times as these should be handled cautiously, because, “principalities, powers, rulers of this world and the spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:1), will tempt you:
· To make a name for yourself,
· To gain attention,
· To get the glory, and
To expect special treatment, because your feeble mind is telling you that you are in control. And everywhere you go, you are recognized for your special giftedness. But, allow me to stress these two points:
1. If you are in life only for yourself,
2. You will have no endurance,
Because in your hand-to-hand fight to be on top, you forgot to build a platform of standards to stand on. On the other hand, if you are committed to excellence, when faced with through times of testing, you can count on Him to get you through. Because if you are the kind of Christian who really wants the whole purpose of God, then you dare not leave out kingdom commitment.
