-Strength for Today- "God’s Promises Are Yea, and Amen." - 2 Corinthians 1:20.
We can never recant the essential trustworthiness of the God’s Word. Down through the years we’ve seen His handwriting, written throughout the earth, and we’ve seen viruses and deaths all around us. But when we’re resting in the arms of God; in times like these, it’s possible, to walk through the:
· Sneers, and the
· Slandering forces of demonic warfare.
Granted, we should all obey the laws of the land. Yet in Christ it’s possible to “stand” by faith in the urgency of this “testing period,” and hold our critical position, even when the devil is pressing us with his strategy, amidst this “unseen spiritual warfare.” Because our God is:
· Too great,
· Too mighty, and
· Too powerful,
To allow those who trust in Him to stoop, for one moment, to the “cowardice unpleasantry” of the devil. Therefore, the fear of death shouldn’t be the “rallying call” for the believing man or woman. We’ve been called to serve, and not “sit in the seat of the scornful, fearing death. Because, viruses and other diseases:
· Seen and
· Unseen
Will press upon you. But when your faith is secured in Jesus Christ, even though these things will “fly” through the air around us. But until God is pleased, (2 Peter 3:9). death won’t come. But when it does, it’s our guaranteed certainty of glory!
But without Jesus Christ, you can’t say that you have His guaranteed certainty of glory. But every Christian can. Just as David said, “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and staff they comfort me” – Psalm 23:4. He could say this because he knew that the Lord was his salvation, and that there was nothing to fear. His faith was as solid as a rock, and more precious than gold, which would one day shine in heaven, as fine jewels.
David is saying to you and me, that the Lord is still in control, and there’s no reason to panic even when:
· This nation,
· Our health,
· Our economy, and
Our toilet paper supply is out of control, we should focus on “hope,” and not on “hype.” When “hype” becomes our dwelling place, that position denotes a “loss of “spiritual discipline.” But if we as Christians expect for God to deliver on His promises, we need to look up beyond the situations that’s confronting us, to the Giver of those promises, and start:
· Praying them, and
· Trusting God,
To bring them to pass in our lives. We need to learn how to pray God’s promises, in order to see the fulfillment of His promises. And we need to first believe that these promises are specifically for us. Because God wants to fulfill His promises for our lives. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a part to play in their fulfillment: we need to believe His promises. “For all the promises of God Him are yea and Amen, unto the glory of God by us” – 2 Corinthians 1:20.
