-Strength for Today- "The Gift of Life. - Psalm 139: 1-14

    Augustine once said, "People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering." 

  Augustine was right, because most of don’t realize how intricate and wondrous our bodies really are. David wrote, “I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Thy work; and that my soul knoweth very well” - Psalm 139:14. David realized that all life starts with God, and is consummated in secret places, that’s why he said, “My substances was not hid from Thee when I was made in secret, and was skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth” - Psalm 139:15. 

   He was so impressed with the wonder of God’s gift of life that he spoke of it as being “woven together,” as only a Master Craftsman could skillfully weave together. He realized that “life” doesn’t just happen, and men don’t have the right to “abort” God’s plan for life. David is basically saying, “I didn’t just happen,” “I ‘m not an accident,” “I have value,” and “I have worth.” 

  David arrived to this conclusion, because he first focused on God. Look again at the first few verses of Psalm 139 “O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in— behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” - Psalm -139:1-6. 

  Now, remember, David arrived at his conclusion, because+ he recognized that he was created by God. It was God that gave his life value. It was God who gave him worth.
