-Strength for Today- “The Breaking News about God’s Peace.” - Philippians 4
When it comes to “Breaking News,” you can always count on “some sort of disaster,” whether it’s “a natural one,” or “a war being kindled,” some place on earth, that’s going to “interrupt your regularly scheduled programming.” During my life-time,?there’s been World WarII, and several conflicts, such from?“the Korean conflict, and 71 years later, “the Afghanistan conflict. Someone once said that: ''peace'' is “simply a brief moment between wars when people stop to reload.”?
?And again, the philosopher, Plato, said: ''Only dead men have seen an end to war.” So, we must conclude?that the “period of fighting between “opposing forces” is “a human struggle,” that “must be determined “between mankind's?pain,” and “purpose.”?
But at the core of it all, “we have Jesus Christ,” who’s “the central truth” “needed for our embattlement.” He’s simply not just “a good idea,” or “a good philosophy,” or even a good person,” although “Jesus and His teaching is all of that.” He’s “the Good News,” which is the weaponry of our “Christian faith.”?Yes, “on Calvary’s cross He died, but ?“that single event defined our victory.” Therefore, our assured faith rest “in resurrection of Jesus Christ.” And “it for over 2,000 years has played out like any good, real news story should.”?
Because “good news,” is “the accurate retelling of an event.” And “the event that defines our faith is the resurrection of Jesus.” So, the central truth of “the Goodnews” is that “God has provided a way of salvation for men through the gift of His son to the world, starting “with?the cross,” and “evidenced by the empty tomb.” Jesus suffered as a sacrifice for sin, overcame death, and now offers a share in His triumph to all who will accept it. The gospel is good news because it’s a gift of God. Paul said: “But?God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.?Much more then, having now been justified?by His blood, we shall be saved?from wrath through Him.?For?if when we were enemies?we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved?by His life.” - Romans 5:8-10.?

So, the breaking news for your soul’s salvation is that you come to him in faith, “turn from your sins,” “embrace the calling of our God,” and you too may have your soul freed from the “worldly wars” of “anxiety,” and “unrest" and “enter into the glorious peace of God, a peace which surpasses all understanding.” - Philippians 4:7.?
