-Strength for Today- "The Benefit of Salt and Light." - Matthew 5: 13-16
We're fighting a major virus, that’s threatening “our well-being.” But the more I study, I believe it’ tied to our immune system. And for that cause:
The stronger the immune system, the better the fight, and
The weaker the immune system, the weaker the fight.
God has placed an immune system in society, it's called the “church,” to fight the “viral “impact” of “sin and evil” that affecting our world. Therefore, if the “immune system” of society is weak, the door is open for all manner of evil, diseases to creep into our society. And if you don't see that, then:
You’re blind in one eye, and
Can’t see out of the other.
In Matthew chapter 5 verses 13-14, Jesus gave two analogies, In Matthew chapter 5, verses 13-16, that talked about the special role of His disciples, and His church in society:
“Ye are the salt of the earth,” in verses 14,15, and 16,
“Ye are the light of the world."
Now don’t misread this, because one of the things this “virus” has done is move the “salt” out of the hands of the shakers:
Christians, and the
Church.
Because salt then was used as a “preservative,” and acted as an “antibacterial agent,” which fights against “decay.” So, when you see “decay”:
Culturally,
Morally, or
Racially,
Something has gone wrong with its “purpose.” So, if Jesus says that, you’re the salt of the earth, then you know what your job is, which is to:
Preserve, and
Hinder
Decay in society and create a thirst for “our God” and “His Savior.” Jesus goes on to say, "Ye are the light of the world". Therefore,
You're a city on a hill, and not a
Lamp hid in a closet.
The last time I checked, light only has:
a. one job,
b. one role, and
c. one responsibility, and that is
To shine, and override “darkness.” What Jesus' is saying here is that you’re to be the “spiritual influencer” in a world that’s:
Dark, and
Diseased.
America is “decaying,” not just because of the “evil” and the “viruses” plaguing it’s decaying because the “righteous can't be located” - Hosea 4:6.
My Unchanging Friend
Oh, what assurance in knowing, you never change, Lord, today or tomorrow, and yesterday is there to say how faithful you’ve been.
Jesus, sweet Jesus, my unchanged unchanging friend.
Chorus
You’re faithful to every commitment, no shadow of turning, on this truth I stand. I’ve tried, you over and, and over again and proved you my unchanging friend.
