-Strength for Today- "America Need’s Revival!" - Hosea 14:1-8
I read an article by the late Billy Braham which described America as being, “just at wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah,” and “if God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” Much of what we’re seeing today is because we’ve forgotten about God, and have socialized His exitance with the “satanic glitter” found in our modern culture.
Hosea wrote to Israel during a time when people were rejecting the knowledge of God. Many had become “self-satisfied,” “proud,” and had forgotten about God’s grace. Some had put their trust in things of the world, and were guilty of “injustice,” “violence,” “murder,” and “theft,” just to name a few.
So, how’re we going to fix this dilemma here in America? No politician can fix it, and no government programs can provide a solution. The only cure for America is a “heaven-sent spiritual awakening revival”!
To summarize, Hosea, in chapter 14 is saying that the ways of the LORD are right. Even in the midst of promised judgment, the wise and understanding man sees that the ways of the LORD are right. And that true wisdom exists only in those whose minds have been redeemed and are focused on the LORD. And even when there’s an announcement of judgement, there’s also is invitation to repent.
The downfall for America, as it were with the Israelites, sin has created a hedge, or a barrier. But for a sinful nation:
The first step is coming to terms that a barrier exists between us and God.
The second step is coming before God with a humble heart and asking for forgiveness.
Hosea is emphasized to the Israelites the need for them to get on “bended-knee,” and “pray.” America, as a nation,” need to get on her bended-knee and pray for true repentance. The Scripture says, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begins at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God – 1 Peter 4:17?
One way or the other, all of us need to make a “U-turn,” and return to God’s standards. Or perhaps you’ve never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Today can be your day to turn from rebellion to grace.
