Strenght for Today- “The God Who Blesses Mothers” - 2 Timothy 1:1-5.
John Quincy Adams said, "All that I am my mother made me." Additionally, Abraham Lincoln said, "All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." The influence of a Godly mother over her children can't be overstated. But if there’s one attitude that all families are guilty of, and it's our “settled way” of taking mothers for granted. Because from “dawn” to “dusk,” families, in most cases ‘are “unappreciatively blind” when it comes to the “load that mom’s carry.” There’re “many sides” of a “godly mother,” as well as the “lasting impact” she can have “on her family.
Think about “her example,” “her support,” “her humor,” “her counsel,” “her humility,” “her hospitality,” “her insight,” “her patience,” “her sacrifices,” “her faith, “her hope,” “her love,” and most of all those “emphatic heartfelt prayers” that she “prays for her family.” The love of a mother is the greatest thing God gives us!
Soloman in Proverbs 31: 10 describes the “excellency,” and value of a “godly woman,” when he looked around in amazement and asked “Who can find a virtuous woman?” that is one whose quality would “exceed any valued item “under the sun.” And to bring clarity to his question, he “qualified” his question by saying, “For her price is far above rubies”
So, as you celebrate Mother’s Day, consider “the priceless value” of the “one woman,” who made your life possible, “your mother.”
So, to all moms on “Mother’s Day,” we rise up and call you blessed. But like most moms, you’ll feel “uneasy” in the “heat of the limelight, and you’ll probably look for a place to hide. True servants are like that. But today, “live it up,” today is your day! Even though you’ll be taken out to eat,” in all honesty,” this “one meal,” I won’t come anywhere near expressing “our gratitude.”
When the “waiter”, or waitress comes to receive your order, my humbled advice? Shake up the family for a change. Your drink order can be a glass of “berries in ice water,” along with a cup of “Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.” Your entrée is going to be, “Tenderloin Filet Mignon” and “American Maine lobster,” and for dessert, “Red velvet cake” to go! After all, this is your day, so, live it up!
