-Strenght for Today- “The Disastrous Result of Greed.” - 1 Corinthians 6:7-10.
The dictionary says that greed is an “intense,” and “selfish desire for something,” such as “money” and “power, “at the expense of other. Therefore, the purpose of greed, is to overtake “the dignity of mankind with a perpetrator's evil intent.” Greed’s excessive desire, “coupled with the insensitivity to humanity,” is just a “blatant disrespect,” and a “ruthless self-seeking arrogant assumption” that all things “exist for their benefit.”?
Therefore, “greed is a false exception to truth,” by which “it motives attitudes of “un-godlikeness,” (Genesis 3:5), when in actuality “it’s human behavior,” that has been regarded as sin “since the day Adam and Eve’s disobedient choice in the Garden of Eden.” So, the use of “excessive desire,” indicates “overly wants,” which is different from “basic wants.”?
The Bible doesn’t forbid us the finer things in life. It instead it warns us against “living a selfish lifestyle of greed.” In my observation, when it comes to “greed,” there’s “a covetous attitude that actually blots out the principled purpose of God,” which violates His Law. To this?He said: "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me" - Exodus 20:2.??
So, we have here “God warning people about the greed.” Because “covetousness opens the door to other sins” and one will?“find ourselves falling farther from God,” and “what He has for our lives.” So, we must be careful “to protect our hearts and minds against the sin of greed,” and “practice satisfaction and contentment.” Because “the disastrous result of greed” is “the result of an unrepented?problemed heart.”?
So, “it’s wrong “to let wealth change us and our attitudes to the point we violate God's laws,” and “bring destruction on ourselves and others.” In order “to get rid of greed,” one?must start by “focusing on Jesus Christ.” Because somehow, “fixing our eyes on Him?causes all other things to grow dim with exceeding?significance.”?
