Street Crimes Investigations Handbook
Park City Utah | The Street Crimes Investigations Handbook is a manual for conducting investigations and operations of gang, drug and human trafficking crimes. The author, Nick Perna, has over twenty years in investigating these types of crimes.?
Nick saw a need for this type of book because, in his training and quest for knowledge, he never found a class or book that covered all of the?aforementioned?topics. He wanted to write a?simple?"How To" book for cops looking to investigate these types of cases.
The target audience for the book is broad. It's for new officers looking to learn a few new tricks. It is also good for seasoned, proactive officers looking to step up their game. It is a great primer for law?enforcement?specialty units that are in need of new tactics or investigative techniques.?
All of the material discussed in the book has been tried by the author and has been successful.
Nick goes into detail in how to investigate and get successful prosecutions of gang crimes. He also shares the types of operations you can conduct to help suppress gang activity.?For example, how to do an operation focusing on "tagging" (gang?graffiti).
In the section on drug crimes, he?focuses?on how to go after drug dealers, including the entire process of investigating a case, authoring a search warrant to hit a dope house and testifying as an expert in court. The drug section includes how to?safely?conduct focused operations on drug houses without having to deal with the risks of sending in informants or undercover officers.
In the human trafficking portion of the book Nick talks about doing operations in all the different areas where human trafficking occurs. This includes operations targeting street walking?prostitution, hotel operations, and massage parlors. It highlights operations focusing on pimps as well as going after "Johns" (buyers).
Nick purposely wrote the book to be?scalable?based on how many officers are available to conduct these types of operations. Many of the ops can be conducted by a few officers on patrol, or a team dedicated to these types of operations.
