Stratis Monthly Update - April

News, announcements, and advancements in development.

In our most recent blog post, learn more about what the stratis team has been up to.

The new season has arrived at Stratis, and with it comes a slew of exciting new developments. This month has seen numerous long-term projects come to fruition, from the announcement of the Opdex launch, signaling a new era in GameFi for Stratis, to an interesting cooperation with UCL on the balance between NFTs and sustainability. We're excited to see how the Stratis community benefits from this.

Opdex and GameFi on Stratis

The Opdex platform, a decentralized exchange within the Stratis ecosystem that supports the integration of DeFi into its GameFi environment, was launched in March. Opdex is designed in the Stratis blockchain's native C# language, making it ideal for game development.

On the Cirrus sidechain, Opdex will allow users to swap Stratis native tokens, provide stability, and mine for ODX rewards (the native token on Opdex). Opdex is compatible with Ethereum and Hyperledger Fabric tokens, allowing for maximum interoperability. It also uses the.NET framework to support smart contracts as part of the Stratis ecosystem. Because of these capabilities, Opdex is a valuable exchange for game makers because it is both inexpensive and extremely customizable.

Three much-anticipated mini-games, NFT Knives, NFT Rise, and NFT Road Runner, were released on Windows and Android using the Stratis Unity3D SDK. These launches represent the beginning of an age in which artists may construct blockchain-based games and incorporate DeFi using Opdex to create a completely immersive experience, with each mini-game geared to highlight NFTs built on Stratis. Stratis & UCL Collaborate on NFT Sustainability Manifesto

The NFT Sustainability Manifesto was developed by Stratis in collaboration with Paolo Taticchi, Professor of Strategy and Sustainability at UCL School of Management, where he is also the School Deputy Director. The manifesto's goal is to promote awareness about how businesses might approach the use of NFTs in an environmentally responsible manner.

Consensus techniques like Proof of Work (PoW) have historically contributed to carbon emissions because of their energy usage. This is one of the reasons why Stratisphere and the blockchain that powers it are built on Proof-of-Authority (PoA), which uses significantly less energy due to a different approach to block formation.

The proclamation can be found here, and the occasion has been commemorated with the release of a Queen Elizabeth II NFT, in which the monarch wears a shirt with the slogan "NFT: use and consume responsibly." We'd like to thank NFT designer Michele Fabbro and artist Massimiliano Donnari for their contributions to this NFT, and we wish UCL and Professor Taticchi (who recently appeared on Italian television to discuss the manifesto) all the best as they continue to foster meaningful conversations about technology and environmental responsibility.

New tokens available through InterFlux Bridge

InterFlux has currently undergone additional development to allow bi-directional ERC20 to SRC20 token transfers. Cirrus Core has been updated to handle these changes, allowing bi-directional transfers to exchange tokens back to ERC20 in a matter of clicks. This enhancement expands InterFlux's capabilities as a bridge between Stratis Blockchain technologies and Ethereum-based solutions.

Six ERC20 Tokens will be available through the InterFlux Bridge starting March 9th: wETH, WBTC, USDC, USDT, LINK, and SHIB – and if you'd like to see more tokens added to the list, please join our Discord and contribute to the community debate.

Stratis Community Infographic Contest

The Stratis Community has established an Infographic Contest to commemorate the aforementioned Opdex launch, providing participants with the possibility to win STRAX and NFTs.

In order to be part of this post, contestants have simply designed an Opdex infographic and shared it in the comments section of the Stratis page, where Gold Members have already selected a winner on April 10th.
