?In the last article we looked at what are the internal drivers of digital transformation . Let’s take a closer look at Strategy as an Internal driver.
One of my acquaintances with 12 years’ experience connected?and sought my advice on what he must learn to up skill.
I told him that depends upon the strategy and how he wants to position himself in this era of digital world and be equipped for the long run. This person had worked primarily on mainframes and in the production support operations.
I suggested?the following so that he stands out from the rest:
1)????Be clear about what customers are asking for and what type of customers he is dealing with and improve customer experience.
?2)????What are the ways existing data is being utilized and analyzed for making decisions on corrective and preventive actions?
3)????How quickly can the Incident or problem be resolved for a quicker turn-around and a permanent resolution?
4)????How can the engagement of customers and the stakeholders who are involved in the process be enhanced?
5)????Gain competitive advantage, by up skilling on areas such as Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Observability and AIOps and application modernization.
Hence strategy is?all about making intentional and deliberate choices, to differentiate ourselves in the marketplace.
From the business perspective following factors might determine the strategy:
?1.?????Customer-Centric Approach:?where customer is at the center of all decision-making can drive the adoption of digital technologies.
How do we make customers feel better?

How do we enhance user experience ?
?It is also important to understand who our customers are.
2.?????Data-Driven Decision Making:?Incorporate data and analytics into the decision-making processes. Enterprises can offer personalized recommendation and unique value to customers.
?3.?????Business Process Automation:?A strategy focused on streamlining and automating business processes can drive the adoption of technologies which would improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
?4.?????Digital Ecosystems:?A connected digital ecosystem with products and services with those of their partners, suppliers, and customers, to create new revenue streams and improve customer engagement. How do we keep our customers hooked and engaged is an important consideration .
?5.?????Digital Transformation as a Competitive Advantage: “Digital First”?approach as a means to gain a competitive advantage over their rivals by offering innovative products and services that meet customer needs in new and better ways.
So to summarize, a digital transformation strategy starts by asking 3 fundamental questions:
·???????Where and who are you now currently?
·???????Where do you want to be in future??
·???????What would be your actions to reach there?
