Better Strategy is a clear, simple, coherent, focused, adaptable, innovative, and action-oriented strategy that the executive team owns. To create Better Strategy, you need to make five shifts in your organization and leadership.?

The first shift is the focus of strategy. Instead of setting financial goals and dreaming up lofty vision statements, craft a strategy that solves your most pressing challenges and seizes your highest-value opportunities.

The second shift is the content of strategy. Stop benchmarking and copying your competitors. Put creative ideas and innovation into your strategy. Come up with what can work for you and that is not necessarily what has worked for others.

The third shift is the rhythm of strategy. No more yearly long-term planning that becomes outdated. Get to agile and dynamic strategizing with a bias towards action.

The fourth shift is the socials of strategy. Involve your organization and relevant stakeholders in strategy-making, instead of discussing the strategy secretly behind closed boardroom doors.

The fifth and final shift is the approach to strategy. Engage people in strategic conversations instead of relying on endless analysis and PowerPoint documents.

Making the shift to Better Strategy is not easy, and it requires a new approach to transformation itself. But, the benefits are worth it.
