Strategy is a commodity, execution is an art – Peter Drucker

As John Doerr puts it, "Ideas are precious, but Execution is everything."

And I would advocate the same.?

OKR Course:?Learnings: Part 1

Though the course provides an in-depth explanation of the implementation process, one should understand and buy an idea before implementing it.?

#okrs are Objectives (WHATs) and Key Results (HOWs) of achieving the organization's Mission (WHY).

To thrive in any Industry, you must strive, think outside the box, and develop a healthy disregard for the impossible. Would it not be beneficial to have a tool that helps you give #focusonwhatmatters and #alignment in achieving what matters most to your organization?

But why another tool? Don't we already have enough to track and measure? Why should we have another goal-setting framework?

An excellent explanation: "If your organizational problems could be materialized as a DIY self-assembly IKEA kitchen, for example, #okrs would NOT be a hammer designed for smashing the problems to bits, but rather the multipurpose Allen keys set, paired with a clear instruction manual."

But before bringing about this change, it would be beneficial to be clear about what you want to solve with #okrs. Some questions would help here:

- Do you have too many or constantly changing #priorities, distracting people from your core #strategy?

- Do you have little or no #innovation and #learningopportunity?

- Do your team members need more focus and clarity, and do they know where the company is going?

- Do your team members know their contribution to the organization's goals?

- Are your business units aligned to achieve the organization's goals?

Wear the problem-solving hat and find answers.

If you have communicated your #strategy, why, despite all your efforts, do you see problems going on repeatedly??

Some more questions:

- Does your organization write down and regularly communicate #goals?

- Who writes the goals in your organization?

- Do your goals feel like they matter? Do they affect the work your teams do day-to-day?

- Does your organization have #strategies to make its mission a reality?

- Do the team members feel they participate in #executing the strategy?

- Do all the team members know your #mission? Do they feel their work supports it?

Answers to these questions make up some foundational reasons people begin using #okrs (Objectives and Key Results) to lead their organizations.

Discuss with your #leadership Team, and conduct a #swotanalysis of the new tool.

Discuss?how?#okrs will help in #problemsolving and align your team with your decision.

- Communicate how performance will improve when teams are committed to a single strategic goal.

- Communicate how specific, relatively demanding goals increase commitment.

- Communicate how clear goals, roles, and execution plans will instigate a sense of contribution towards a higher objective.

You can choose to do what "#leaders" do best. Model #okrs and do them well at the top. Show how #okrs are guiding the organization's #strategy. Use them in team meetings and continue the process every cycle (#okrs have a 90-day cycle). Communicate in meetings how #okrs have helped you clarify, #focusonwhatmatters and #communicate your strategy, how #okrs have given you clear #goals, #purpose, and improved your performance.

Then, I'd like you to envision the ideal for your organization.?
