Strategizing use cases for ChatGPT & AI - and talking points for sales people
There’s so much talk about ChatGPT and how AI is going to change everything. Maybe. Maybe not. There are no shortage of sales enablement tools out there. They’re great - if the adoptions are there. People forget when talking about emerging technologies - that sales still comes down to execution. Just because a mechanic has $30K in tools in his garage - doesn’t make him a better mechanic. The tools are?great, but the tools aren’t?the?problem.?
Think about video messaging with built in real-time?teleprompters...and then look at the adoption rate. The technology is mind-blowing, just like ChatGPT.?Again, the tools aren’t the issue. With AI and tools like ChatGPT and its conversational interface, there’s no doubt that it can be leveraged if people saw the value. That value of?course?is tied to habits. If you study the?aggregation?of?marginal gains?and super high performers like olympians, you’d find that smallest of details can add up very quickly. I’ve even read that if a person worked on a specific skill as little as 1% a day…in short order that person would be better than 90% of the people with that same skill. It’s crazy. It’s all about?intentionality and practicing consistently. ?
When I think of real sales pros, people like Chet Holmes come to mind. He’s dead now - but what a machine. He had this famous quote that mastery isn’t about doing 4,000 things, it’s about doing 12 things 4,000 times. One of those 12 things is continuous employee training. What’s interesting is not that companies want to be learning organizations and provide training. Several of them do. They’re all about knowledge transfer. The companies are like tools - they’re not the challenge.?

What happens is that some people get comfortable and stop learning or are even interested in ongoing learning. When I was living in Saudi Arabia years ago with the Marine Corps, there was this 1st Sergeant who used to say - complacency kills. The older I get, the more I get it.?
There are no traffic jams along the extra mile. You can’t teach hunger. It’s either there or it’s not. It’s the way of the world...and there’s nothing new about it.??
