Strategies for Tomorrow: Talent, CSR, and DEI Dynamics

Strategies for Tomorrow: Talent, CSR, and DEI Dynamics

It’s clear that the past two years have completely reshaped healthcare for the better, but businesses navigating this new territory need to be informed - pronto. That’s why I’m relaunching my monthly newsletter in a “snackable” format called Espresso Talks. Each month I’ll be summarizing the top trends in healthcare across six keystone categories. They include:?

Overview:

  1. Global Talent Acquisition: Expanding Your Team Across Borders
  2. CSR & ESG: Building a Sustainable Future
  3. Cultivating a Culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
  4. Fostering Critical Thinking in Your Organization
  5. From Startup to Success: Essential Services for New Businesses
  6. Innovative Approaches to Sustainability: Lessons from Industry Leaders

1. Global Talent Acquisition: Expanding Your Team Across Borders?

  • In Q1 so far we’ve seen multinational companies began sourcing talent from the developing world, representing a huge opportunity for businesses seeking untapped talent pools. At the close of last year, PQE Group opened an office in Singapore to capitalize on the fastest-growing economic regions in the world for Medtech apps and Femtech-centered technology. Want to go deeper? Here are some insights on this topic from The World Economic Forum.

2. CSR & ESG: Building a Sustainable Future?

  • Want to build a sustainable company? Start by teaching your employees the basics of climate literacy. The publication Sustainability offers tips on how companies ranging from one-room operations all the way to multinational scale can reap the rewards of a greener, cleaner image by practicing what they preach. Citing Salesforce Research, the article notes how, “8 in 10 global workers want to help their company operate sustainably, with 3 in 5 employees eager to incorporate sustainability into their current role.” Business owners, c-suite executives, and upper-level management - take note.?

3. Cultivating a Culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)?

  • CNBC reports more on the multiple lengthy ongoing legal battles in the US against DEI programs, and how companies are quietly rewriting their policies to fend off the threat of possible litigation by employees or political action groups. Often basing their arguments on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin - meaning companies trying to increase the diversity of their workforce might come under attack for quietly utilizing quotas to hit token demographics. Or, in the case of the Fearless Fund - which offered Venture Capital investment to Black Female Entrepreneurs only - inbound lawsuits mean hopeful entrepreneurs are the ones to suffer. Constitutional lawyers are trying to prove that all DEI programs are pushing for the limit on what is deemed acceptable when it comes to how a company defines its hiring practices.

4. Embracing Critical Thinking in Your Organization?

5. From Startup to Success: Essential Services for New Businesses?

  • Are you a small business owner in the US? Then you might qualify for one of the US Chamber of Commerce’s 64 new grants, loans, and aid programs designed to help you succeed!?

6. Innovative Approaches to Sustainability: Lessons from Industry Leaders

  • From Davos, the new word to look out for is “Regeneration.” The idea is to take sustainability one step further and begin moving from climate neutral to climate negative, meaning your business actions help actively remove CO2 emissions and things like plastic waste from the global ecosystem. The piece cites Patagonia as a great example given how, “Rather than just trying to, say, minimize the amount of cotton it buys for its clothes, for example, the cotton it uses for its products has either been recycled or is grown using regenerative organic practices, such as improving soil yields by planting different kinds of crops together, reducing the amount of tilling and re-using waste as compost.
