Strategic Partnerships > Competition

Fellow artists create masterpieces together.

Musicians collaborate to make number-one hits.

So why do we think businesses can’t partner if they’re seemingly offering the same thing?

This is something I’ve set out to solve because I believe that the energy wasted in competition is better spent in synergy.

This article dives deeper into building up brands through collaboration.

Out Competing Competition

Brand collaboration is a unique way to leverage working together to share market share, capture new attention from cross-markets, and benefit from putting your brand into a new perspective next to another.

This is a powerful strategy that most understand, but the Blue Ocean is doing brand collaborations with your alleged competition as a way to enhance your brands together against everyone else.

Everybody in the business marketplace is competing; even if a brand has won a client and currently services them.

They have to earn and keep their business by providing maximum value, and binding agreements aside, are at the mercy of another company coming in and taking away their business.

This is why two brands are better than one. We partner with companies in the space who may be offering a similar (or even the same offer) to deliver:

  • maximum value-add leveraging both our brands
  • distributed goodwill into the client relationship that another single brand can’t compete with
  • revenue share to create a working model that mobilizes our resources at scale

The cool part is, even though I’m openly talking about it now- everybody will still be scared to do this for a long time.

Understand that your brand, alongside another one, can beat any other standalone brand (as long as it’s the right strategic partnership,) and you will win more business than you know what to do with.

Conclusion

“Dakota, I don’t think we can partner because we offer the same services.”

This sentence makes me smile because I know I’m about to drop some serious perspective on any of our potential partners.

When we can utilize empathy to look at the (illusion of) conflict between brands, we can start to make space for something new.

Building trust, starting small, and winning together early sets us up for long-term growth and serves as a brand multiplier.

We fit our offer into your brand's ecosystem as a bolt-on team to synergize and beat others who are too scared to tread past seeming conflict.

We’ve done this time and time again to win “unwinnable” deals, leverage PR and good news stories- and multiply revenue in partnership.
