The Academy is a reactive response to the pandemic and remote working, but is also a step up from my previous face-to-face training (and even more so, the Zoom training sessions I started delivering at the beginning of lockdown).
Which would you rather attend? - a one day course in central London, with the travel that entails, for £399?
Or the same set of experiences delivered online, with each experienced delivered in the most appropriate format for that experience, all for £148, or significantly less if you take out a membership that gives you access to all my courses. These experiences include:
- Access to pre-recorded video and other training materials (courses) at the time which suits you, without the need for travel. Note that, unlike some other academies, I don't hide these materials away but make them permanently available to support your learning.
- The ability to ask me, and other Academy participants (now tapping many more insights and experiences) important questions through discussion boards (learning forums), now available for all participants to benefit from.
- Opportunities to discuss course and other insights in small learning cohorts (study groups), facilitated by me. Study groups include a few Zoom calls but these are focused on personal connection and workshop activities, rather than content delivery. This isn't one of those academies where you never get to talk to the main man (if you know who I mean) - I'm going to be deeply involved in your personal learning (if you want me to be) - much more than I was able to be before.
- The social chat we used to have over lunch, provided through social groups and forums (chat rooms).
OK, I used to enjoy the face-to-face element of my training sessions too (and I really valued the support of the partners I used to do this with), but we can't do that now, and I truly believe my new online Academy will provide even more interesting learning and better learning outcomes than I used to be able to achieve. And of course, the cost savings are worth having too.
Really, this is something I should have set up years ago, but like many businesses, I found it difficult to cannibalise my existing business model by trying something new - until I was forced into doing it too.
