The rules of #WHO
We all recognize in the World Health Organization (#WHO) a key organization for the health of the world population. WHO is preserving the human rights to receive the best possible cares. Since 1986 the "analgesic ladder" of WHO has represented a sort of Bible for many doctors around the world caring for pain patients. These guidelines in most of the cases represent a simple support for the treatment of cancer patients in poorly developed countries. This was in the intention of the people that seated together in a small Advisory Board in 1982.
Since then, many progresses have been made. Recently the WHO has finally recognized the Treatment of Pain as a Human Right, topic that was initially presented by some Latino American Colleagues, like Eduardo Ibarra. Now we all are convinced that pain management should be available for the human beings all over the world. Unfortunately, not all the countries have the same rules, and the same availability of analgesics.
Actually, there are countries where analgesics are very poorly available. There, how is possible to guarantee the human right to pain treatment? Moreover, it would be dramatic to see a further limitation of the distribution and availability of some efficacious and safe analgesics, like it is described in this publication- https://goo.gl/LW5XkN
I personally hope it will not happen.
