Sharing stories that inspire you, your teams, and the heart of your organisation| TEDx speaker ??
Everyone has a story to tell. Something that happened to you when you were young that shaped your beliefs about who you are and why you work so hard to achieve the dreams and aspirations you have.
Did you know that people have been sharing stories from as far back as the cavemen era?
It's true. The cave paintings we all learned about in school are the first stories told in pictures.
Today it's so hard wired into our nervous system that when you hear of a great story you never forget it. It's so simple to share because it was easy for you to remember. And this is great for so many reasons.
- Human beings are terrible at communicating their thoughts. Stories make this so much more simpler
- Your story can be told in large audiences or even one to one.
- Your message of hope, leadership, change can be transformational if delivered using stories.
- People are always 99% more engaged if they are being told a story
There are so many more wonderful reasons for you to connect with your fans, your work colleagues, your boss, your staff and even your family. People just come to life when your sharing a funny or witty story about something that happened to you when you were a fresh faced beginner making all the typical mistakes.
Stories are the best model for selling your services as well. It's a powerful and practical method of getting through all the clutter of boring communication and chatter that everyone is so bored with today.
Take social media, it's powerful and driven 100% by stories. That should be enough of a reminder to share more of your own stories in your marketing and corporate communications next time your thinking of running an Ad or a campaign.

I would like people to recognize in looking at my story that the person who has the most to do with what happens to you is you. It's not the environment, it's not the other people who were there trying to help you or trying to stop you. It's what you decide to do and how much effort you put behind it.
