Storytelling FDP

The Faculty Development Program (FDP) is designed to enhance the skills of educators in using storytelling as an effective teaching tool. Recognizing the power of stories in engaging students, this initiative aims to empower faculty members with the tools and techniques needed to weave narratives into their lessons. Storytelling fosters creativity, critical thinking, and deeper understanding by transforming complex concepts into relatable, memorable experiences for students. Through a series of hands-on workshops, participants are introduced to a variety of storytelling methods, ranging from traditional oral techniques to modern digital storytelling formats, providing them with diverse strategies to connect with their students.

The FDP also delves into the psychological and emotional impacts of storytelling. Educators learn how to craft compelling stories that not only clarify challenging ideas but also captivate and inspire students, fostering a positive and dynamic learning environment. Moreover, the program addresses how storytelling can be adapted across various subjects and disciplines, making lessons more engaging and relevant to students’ lives. By using stories, faculty members can create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and empathy.

In addition to the workshops, the FDP encourages participants to engage in activities such as developing a tagline and delivering an effective self-introduction. A tagline is an impactful, concise statement that reflects one’s personal or professional vision, like "Innovating Learning through Storytelling." In a self-introduction, participants are encouraged to share their background, passion for teaching, and goals for the program, making a strong and memorable first impression. The program also incorporates speed interviews and group discussions, which allow faculty to practice concise communication, collaborate with peers, and share insights on applying storytelling in various educational contexts. By participating in these activities, educators refine their ability to articulate their ideas quickly, listen actively, and contribute effectively to discussions, all of which enhance their teaching practices.

By the end of the program, faculty members will be equipped with the skills to incorporate storytelling seamlessly into their teaching methods, helping to ignite curiosity, foster emotional connections, and promote deeper learning. The FDP plays a crucial role in creating a transformative educational experience, and we thank the DT Team for their efforts in organizing this impactful initiative.
