Storytelling - facts and fiction

a) I write this on #InternationalWomensDay, I live in a house of women. I hear regular examples of inequality as they experience life.

They are all awesome and anyone who thinks differently needs their head wobbled

(that’s a scousism I’ve picked up over the years - thanks Dave Bennett ).

b) Whilst we played with some machine generated surfaces in #Aptix the following converstion occured.

"It looks like a steak."

"Getting hungry?"

"I cleaned my bbq at the weekend. Everything looks like a steak."

c) Or telling stories.

e) Sappers and names.

My online name is Roo. A gentleman I met Mark Shayler assumed it was short for Rupert.

I haven’t told my dad yet because Rupert isn’t a great name in the Sapper’s world.

From the French Sappe, spade or trench, In sieges covered trenches or tunnels were dug to get close to castle/town walls. The aim was to undermine the walls and cause a collapse to allow the infantry to storm the breach in the walls. The method of collapse was to support the wall foundations using timbers and then setting fire to the timbers to burn the support away and hopefully collapse the walls. So these specialist troops were know as Sappers. In general the Sappers provide all the specialist combat engineering support to the Army.
