Storyboard Your Way to a Perfect Video

Storyboard Your Way to a Perfect Video

How many of you have a million ideas flying around your head when it comes to creating content to produce a perfect video? It can sometimes make things more confusing when you have so much going on in your head and then it just comes out as a jumble of information, right? Many people can relate to this issue, but luckily enough there is a solution:?

Storyboarding!

As it sounds, storyboarding is a way to express all the content flying around your head and writing it out in front of you in a clear and coherent way. In other words, writing out a story, creating scenes, in a board form, placing all your ideas out in front of you.

Tip: Spare no detail! The more you have written out in front of you, from the minor to the major ideas, the easier it will be creating your video.

So what should you include in your storyboard?

Visuals?

An important part of any video are the visuals you create. This can mean graphs and charts to rough sketches of characters, or any other image you wish to use to express your idea.. Whilst storyboarding, it is key to draw out all the visuals you want to use in each scene in as much detail as possible. This allows you to see your ideas layed out visually in front of you, and you can clearly see how you want to express your ideas.?

Powtoon assists in your storyboarding journey, providing inspiration from its library of images and videos. You can simply look up the images and videos Powtoon has stored in its library, and from there make a rough sketch as to your ideal visual you wish to create for your video.

Audio

What would a video without a little music or explanation. During the storyboarding process you should start thinking about what kind of audio you would like playing in the background of your video. It is important to make sure that the audio you choose matches the tone of the video. If you are planning on doing a voice over in your video, the storyboard is where you should be writing out your script in full, dividing it between each scene, so when it comes to recording, you can clearly read what it is you want to say for each scene.?

And if you’re looking for inspiration, Powtoon offers an array of audio backgrounds for your video, as well as providing you a voice over option, or the ability to capture yourself on the screen giving an explanation.?

Timing

How does timing help the storyboarding process? By writing out in front of you how you would like the timing of your video to be, it will make creating the video more efficient. Additionally you should storyboard which animations you would like to appear and or disappear first, and this should give you a good idea as to how your video will flow.?
